It is with warm hearts and profound gratitude that we celebrate the life of Walter Pollard, who left us on December 10, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on June 16, 1947, Walter was a larger-than-life figure whose spirit enriched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know him.

Walter was a proud graduate of South Garland High School, but his legacy extends far beyond his academic achievements. He dedicated 30 years of his life to UPS, where he was known not just for his hard work but also for his infectious humor and kind-hearted nature. Walter held the pole vault championship for many years, embodying both physical prowess and competitive spirit that inspired those around him.

Walter was a family man above all else. His love was boundless, teaching his family the values of independence, self-expression, and the significance of being there for one another—lessons that will resonate for generations to come. His laughter echoed in their hearts, and his unwavering support created a foundation of strength for his loved ones.

Walter was not only a cherished family member but also an engaged member of his community. He served fiercely as a volunteer assistant chief firefighter, proudly contributed on the city council, and held the position of mayor pro- tem, modeling civic duty and passion for public service.

As a Vietnam veteran, Walter carried the respect and honor of those who served alongside him. He exemplified bravery both on the battlefield and in everyday life, always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether he was reeling in a big catch—or inevitably visiting the ER after an incident with a fishing hook—Walter approached life with joy and adventure.

Walter Pollard will be remembered as an amazing man, a loving father, and an extraordinary husband whose legacy is one of warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. His spirit lives on in the many lives he touched.

He is greatly loved and will be dearly miss by is sons; Walter Pollard Jr., John Pollard, daughters; Kimberly Hayes, Jordan Pollard, sister; Vicky Cohutt, grandchildren; Brittany Cox, Brandon Cox, Ashley Moore, Hannah Pollard, Kaitlyn Pollard, Jenna Cooper, Aiden Moore, great grandson; Wade William, nephews; Michael Pollard, Casey Pollard, nieces; Donna Kay, Jessica Cohutt.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ruth Pollard, dad; A.E Pollard (John), mother; Edna Wright, stepdad; Albert Wright and sister Winnie Motsick.
