Sharon Davis-Hite Obituary

In Loving Memory of Our Mom:

Sharon Doris Davis-Hite, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. At 81 years young, she completed her earthly journey on September 1, 2020, after living a long and fruitful life. Devotion to family and a firm faith in God were the “secret sauce” to which she attributed every blessing she received.

Sharon was born to L. Handly Davis and Mildred Jo Doris Davis in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 15, 1939. She was the oldest of the three Davis children; she had a sister, Sandra Davis, and a brother, L. Handly Davis, Jr. She graduated from Galena Park High School and went on to attend the University of Houston, where she studied Art and met the love of her life, Carl Joseph Hite, Jr.   She and Carl were married on June 12, 1959, in Galena Park, Texas. Soon after, they started their family and were blessed with four wonderful children: Denice, Michael, Deidré and René. By her own admission, Sharon considered motherhood her highest calling…she was also a spiritual mother (and grandmother) to so many, as evidenced by her more widely-known name: Grandie.

Sharon was an artist, a painter, and an educator at heart. She taught in Elementary education, as well as giving private Art lessons. Sharon generously supported hundreds of missionaries, across the globe, in her lifetime. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones and church family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years, Carl Hite, Jr., as well as her parents and younger brother. She is survived by her children: daughter, Elizabeth Denice Harlan, and husband Wade; son, Joseph Michael Hite, and wife Judee; daughter, Deidré Joann Harry, and husband Rich; and daughter, Doris René Hollingsworth, and husband Ronnie; her eleven grandchildren: Jacqueline, Sarah, Michael, Andrew, Cliff, Kyle, Clara, Jennifer, Megan, Sydnee, and Alexis; her eight great-grandchildren: Madison, Dylan, Zain, Dillon, Emily, Hayli, Ryder, and Emma; her sister, Sandra Davis; and a host of loving family members and friends.
