Sandra Sue Byrd, born on October 24, 1937, in Waco, Texas, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and support that touched the lives of many.
Sandra retired from Terrell State Hospital as an X-Ray technician at EEG Tech, but her biggest passion was volunteering for the American Red Cross where she dedicated her life to helping others in their time of need. Her compassion and expertise in her work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and community members alike. She took great pride in her work, always striving to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her.
Sandy is preceded in death by her wonderful husband Kenneth Byrd, her son Terry Cale, brother Harry Tooker and both of her parents. She is loved and greatly missed by her children Jimmy Cale and Darlene of Waco, Craig Cale and Veta of Waco, and Billy Shelton of Greenville, Marc Powers and Melissa of Alaska, Kris Byars and her husband Joseph of Ben Wheeler, Aeron Sandefer, and Kevin of Quinlan. She also leaves behind 18 precious grandchildren and many loved great-grandchildren. Sandra's family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them throughout her life.
A special thank you to her daughter Kristen for seeing her through in her time of need.
A celebration of Sandra's life will take place on February 8, 2025, at 11:00 am at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan, TX. After the service, she will be cremated, and placed with her husband Kenneth Rhea Byrd at the National Cemetery where our country’s bravest heroes reside.
