Sammye Busby Obituary

Bettie (Sammye) Rene Busby, 90, of Quinlan, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025. Born on September 30, 1935, in Anderson County, Texas.

Sammye was a devoted mother and housewife, who helped her husband at their restaurants they owned over the years.

Sammye was known for her adventurous spirit and zest for life. She enjoyed dancing and gambling where she often relished the thrill of chance which brought her joy. Sammye found delight in exploring garage sales and thrift stores, uncovering hidden treasures and sharing stories with fellow shoppers. Among her favorite pastimes was playing Farkle and Rummi Cube, where she showcased her competitive edge and quick wit. Sammye received the nickname "Two Gun Granny" after a trip to Branson with her daughters. She also enjoyed racing her daughter on scooters at Walmart, creating memorable moments filled with laughter and love. Sammye's spirit will be cherished by her family and friends, who will remember her warmth, laughter, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Sammye is preceded in death by her husband Calvin Busby Sr., her mother Maudie Kimbrouh, father George McCreary and wife Veta, sisters Louise Higginbothom, Bobbie Corne and Maxine Burns, sons Ronald Corne and Calvin Busby Jr, grandsons Joey Huber and Coty Busby.

She is survived by her son William Moore Jr of Athens Texas, daughter Debbra Hurst and husband John of Lake Tawakoni Texas, daughter Sammye Schultz and husband Todd of Payne Springs Texas, son Darren Busby and wife Jena of Harleton Texas, daughter Karen Ramsey of Sachse Texas, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren,1 great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and many friends.
