Rita Dolores Hawkins was born in Dallas, TX. on September 16th, 1933, to Lillie (Marconi) and Ada Middleton and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 7th, 2026, at the age of 92.
Rita was the patriarch of the family that she loved unconditionally. Her home always had an open door, and she was always there to listen, give advice or help in any way she could. Her tender heart, compassion and grace was felt by anyone who knew her. To know her was to love her. Besides spending her days with family, Rita loved being in nature and admiring the beauty of God’s creation. One of her favorite places was her lake house in Bob Sandlin where many weekends with kids and grandchildren were spent. Memories made that will last a lifetime. She immensely enjoyed day trips with her loving husband; jumping in the car and finding new cities and places to explore. It was the simple things that mattered the most. Rita lived life to the fullest and loved having a good time. Moments with family brought her the most joy, whether it be days at the casino, watching a good movie, catching a Rangers game or Friday night pizza nights.
She loved the Lord with all her heart and her faith was unwavering. She is where her heart has longed to be, with her Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of her life of over 57 years, Kenneth Hawkins. Her two greatest loves.
Rita is survived by her children, Glen Alford and Sharon, Penny Love Bear and Don, James Alford and Tami, and Sondra Conegia; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hawkins; parents Lillie (Marconi) and Ada Middleton; sister, Joan Cantrell; children, Billy Alford, Karen McKown, Teresa Hawkins, and Sidney Hawkins; grandchild, Kenneth “Tutt” Lattig; and great-grandchild, Kayla Lodes.
