Rita Lynn McVey Hartman (Rambo) of Wills Point, TX passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 57. Rita was born and raised in Saugus, California with her 4 siblings as the 3rd from the oldest. She loved dancing and was athletic as she was on an all-boys Flag Football team there. She was 14 years old when the family relocated to Garland, Tx. She enrolled as a high school student at Garland High where she made the Football team. She was an Auto Detailer as her father taught her the ins and outs of the trade. She had a love for cars, specifically Thunderbirds. She had a blue one, which was named “Thunder Chicken” by her children and a silver Thunderbird thereafter which remained nameless. She enjoyed cruising with the windows down, the music up and the wind blowing through her mullet. She enjoyed being outdoors; Shooting, Fishing and tending to her animals and her garden. She enjoyed watching a show called Ghost Hunters, she had a fascination with all things ghosts and haunted places. She would frequent Choctaw Casino where she would try her luck on the slots followed by a trip to the Chinese Buffett in Greenville, which would make everyone sick, but her. She was a huge fan of Elvis and had a shrine, which her family would contribute to, and she displayed it proudly.
Rita's talents were many, she dabbled in a little bit of everything. She served her community on the Lion’s Club alongside her mother, stepfather and best friend. She collected American Indian trinkets and dolls, like her mother. She enjoyed cars and was a jack of all trades like her father.
Preceded in death by her parents Linda Lou and James Patrick McVey Sr, her stepfather Charles McVey, her older brother James Patrick Jr, and her youngest sister Dana Marie.
She is survived by; her sisters; Vi, Kim, and Kelly; her daughter Jackie Lynn; son Christopher James and his wife Stephanie; her favorite nephew James Joseph (Joe); 5 granddaughters Riley, Gracie, Aubrey, Remi, Stevie; and her numerous nieces and nephews and their children.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 20th at Ingram’s Funeral Home in Quinlan, TX. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm and the service at 2:00 pm. There will not be a burial as Rita’s wishes were to be cremated. The family appreciates your attendance at the service and continued prayers.
