Michael Poteete Obituary

Michael Dale Poteete, 72, of Yantis, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2026.

Mike was born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 8, 1954, to Willie “Bill” Osbon Poteete and Jewel Irene Moncrief Poteete. He graduated from Irving High School before proudly serving in the United States Navy. He went on to build a long career as a machinist, working for Murdock, HM Dunn, and Bell Helicopter where he formed many friendships and memories. He was also a proud Master Mason with Thomas B. Hunter Lodge in Grand Prairie, Texas where he was a member for the past 40 years.

Mike was a Texan to his core, spending most of his life in Arlington and Grand Prairie before eventually answering the call of lake life and making a new home in the Lake Fork area. There, he embraced retirement and found great joy in the country lifestyle and the close-knit community of White Oak Shores.

He was known for his big voice and bigger personality. Mike loved bowling, fishing, cheering on the Dallas Stars, and spending time with his beloved dogs, who were truly his babies. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though he will be greatly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing Mike is fully healed and reunited with the Lord, whom he accepted as his Savior as a young boy.

Mike is survived by his daughters Heather Malone and husband Derrick, Amber Palmbos and husband Eric; grandchildren Isabella, Alaina and Asher; brothers Doug Poteete and wife Julie, Randy Poteete and wife Marian, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Jewel Poteete, and uncle and aunt Ronnie and Peggy Poteete and many other beloved family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 1:30-4:00pm at Rockin’ S Grand Prairie (5700 Lake Ridge Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX 75052). Mike was a very casual man, and this relaxed gathering is a fitting reflection of his style and spirit. For more details, and to let the family know you are coming, please visit this LINK.
