Lynnette “Lynn” Hoff died on January 16, 2021. Born July 4, 1946, in Minneapolis, MN, she was the only child of John and Jeannette Lund. She married William “Bill” Hoff in 1968, and they had one child Jynnette Neal. Lynn had lived in many places with her husband, who traveled for his construction superintendent job. Between that and her childhood, she had spent time in North Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana. She lived for over 20 years in Lake Jackson, Texas, where she worked for Oyster Creek Apartments in maintenance. For a time, she performed repairs there with her father, John Lund. She was able to care for her father in his later years, exemplifying how a loving daughter should care for an extraordinary parent. She enjoyed visiting the beach every year and traveled with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter annually to visit beaches and see fireworks from Maine to Myrtle Beach to Corpus Christi. Lynn enjoyed finding the hidden local treasure in any community, and even the smallest excursion could become an adventure. Road trips were an inherent part of her life. When Lynn settled in Emory, TX, after her husband’s passing, to be closer to her family, she found an oasis that allowed her to feed multitudes of hummingbirds, cardinals, and other birds. She kept her feeders and birdbaths full at all possible times. Lynn was an active member of bible study and the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Ladies Guild. She was an excellent cook, using her talents for “Sip and Dunk” at St. Johns for many years. She was famous for her sausage rolls among parishioners and her bacon dressing on Thanksgiving among her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Hoff and parents John “Jack” and Jeannette “Jan” Lund.
She is survived by her daughter Jynnette Neal, son-in-law Dan B. Neal and granddaughter Leannette “Lea” Neal.
In remembrance of Lynn’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund, 551 East FM 2795, Emory TX 75440, where Lynn found an amazing parish family. Helping the church grow was important to her.
