Lela McCurdy Towery

Lela Towery, 69, of Royse City passed away on October 22,2025.

Lela was born on July 13,1956 in Dallas, Tx to Tommie and Lois McCurdy. She grew up in Dallas.

She married Billy Towery on November 22,1974, and together they had two children and 6 grandchildren. Lela was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and above all her love for everyone she met.

Throughout her life, Lela enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings. She touched many lives through the years and will always be remembered as "everyone's grandma."

She is survived by her husband, Billy Towery, daughter, Tonya Haddox and son-in-law, David Haddox, daughter, Kelli Causey and son-in-law, Devin Causey, 6 grandchildren, Holden Causey, Haley Haddox, Dawn Rae Haddox, Parker Causey, Karsen Haddox, and Annabelle Causey, sister, Linda Gravely and brother-in-law, Lee Gravley, sister Rhonda Shuffield, mother-in-law, JoAnn Towery, brother-in-law Les Towery, too many to count nieces and nephews, and many friends who have become family. She is preceded in death by her father, Tommie McCurdy, mother, Lois McCurdy, brothers, Bill McCurdy and Bobby McCurdy, sister, Dretha Gover and brother-in-law, Lacy Gover, Father-in-law, Don Towery, brother-in-law, Bobby Towery, nieces Michelle Thomas and Dayna Towery.

A memorial service will be held on November 14, 2025, at Lakepoint Church in Rockwall, Tx at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories of Lela.
