Kenneth Byrd Obituary

Kenneth Rhea Byrd, age 88, went to his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 29, 2021, at his home in Quinlan. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M with Chaplin Paul, officiating under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday November 8, 2021, at 10:00 A.M.

Kenneth was born and raised in Terrell Texas to the late James Samuel Byrd and Bessie Hixie Wren on April 27, 1933. After graduating High School, he enlisted into the United States Army on October 19, 1953, and honorably served his country until his discharge in 1955. He married the love of his life Sandy in 1980 and they made their home in Quinlan. Kenneth worked at E-System/Raytheon for 41 years after retiring on two separate occasions. He also worked at B & B security for 17 years before his retirement. When not working, Kenneth enjoyed life to the fullest with his family and friends. He loved fishing, hunting, whittling, and burning wood. He loved his trips to Galveston and spending time on the beach, their second home. His favorite thing to do following his retirement was drinking coffee with his friends every morning at Duck Cove.

He is loved and greatly missed by his adoring wife Sandy Byrd of Quinlan, Jimmy Cale and Darlene of Waco, Craig Cale and Veta of Waco, and Billy Shelton of Greenville,  Marc Powers and Melissa of Quinlan, Robyn Eller and Tom of Rockwall, Kris Powers of Ben Wheeler, Aeron Sandefer, and Kevin of Quinlan, 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Marshall Byrd, Clifford Byrd, Jack Byrd, Billy Byrd and Benton Byrd, Sister Eva Mae, Son Terry Cale, and Grandson Corbin Powers.
