Joyce Lavern Blackburn was born on April 14, 1943, in Atoka, Oklahoma to the late Floyd Blackburn and Stella Keylan Blackburn. She attended secretarial school in the late 60’s and earned a degree in bookkeeping. Joyce worked as a bookkeeper for Bank of America for 28 years until her retirement. During her early years at the bank, she met the love of her life, GM Caldwell and they married on January 11, 1975. They made their home in Point, where she joined Emory Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a woman of strong faith and deep Christian values. Joyce was passionate about puzzles and enjoyed working on them with her precious grandchildren. She also loved to do yardwork in her flower garden. Joyce will be remembered for her upbeat personality and positive outlook on life. During her illness and long battle with cancer, her faith remained strong and at 7:12A.M. on Thursday, her Lord healed her body and took her home. She was more than a good person; Joyce was a beautiful light to those lucky enough to know her.
She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 46 years, GM Caldwell of Point; daughters, Heather Koukalik and husband Joe of Fate and Valerie Caldwell of Fort Worth; brothers, Ken Blackburn and wife Shirley of Durant, Oklahoma and Curtis Blackburn of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Ashley Koukalik, Johnathan Koukalik, Robert Barrientos, and Morgan Jenkins.
