James was born in Dallas, Texas on December 14, 1968, to Mr. Maurice Barrett and Mae Delores Pittman. He was raised in Dallas before moving to Robert Lee, Texas. He lived in many places throughout east Texas before settling in Quinlan. He enjoyed fishing and going to casinos to play the penny slots. James was a talented car mechanic in his younger years. He loved spending time with his family and playing with his nieces & nephews. He is remembered as an all-around great guy that would do anything for those that needed him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Barrett; three brothers; Tony Barrett of Quinlan, Timothy Tuttle of Sanger, and Billy Sharp of Oklahoma; sister, Laura Lockwood of Gordanville; nephews, Chris Graham of Terrell, Christopher Serrato of Quinlan, and Tyler Serrato of Terrell; niece, Susan O'Brien of Dallas; numerous great nephews and nieces and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Delores Barrett and four brothers: Donald and Doug Tuttle and Maurice and Richard Barrett.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
