George Edward Odom passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026.
George, the son of George Wayne Odom and Mattie Maedeyl Odom, was born on July 27, 1951, in Dallas, Texas and died at his home in Kaufman, Texas at the age of 74. George grew up in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas for the first half of his life. He graduated from H. Grady Spruce. After high school George went to work at Central Freight Lines until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. When George was discharged from the Army, he went back to work at Central Freight Lines and stayed there until he retired in June 2013, working there for over 40 years.
George was blessed to have one daughter, Levie Odom Kirk, who he loved very much. He has four Grandchildren: Maci Greer, Cole Greer, Cade Greer, and River Kirk and one Great Granddaughter Oakley Johnson.
In George's younger years, he loved to go hunting with his friends, where there was a little hunting, a fair amount of poker, and lots of drinking and fellowship. He stayed close to his hunting buddies and co-workers from Central. George also loved to have a couple "Hootenannies" at his house twice a year, spring & fall, where he invited all his close buddies and they played guitars and poker, had lots of food, even more Alcohol and great fellowship. George loved to have family gatherings at his home. And he loved to collect guns.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mattie Maedeyl Odom, brothers Bobby Odom and Henry Odom. George was survived by daughter Levie Kirk, grandchildren Maci Greer, Cole Greer, Cade Greer, and River Kirk and great grandchild Oakley Johnson. Brother & Sisters, Dana Odom (wife Joi Odom), Del Odom (husband Bobby Odom), Debra Kelley (husband Tom Kelley) and Elizabeth Cross. He had many Nieces, Nephews, and extended family.
The Odom family would like to thank Trinity Hospice (Harmony, Taylor, Kim & Q) for the love and support they gave to George. We would also like to thank the One You Love Home Care for their help with Care Givers for George in his final days, especially Linda.
Funeral service for George will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Ingram Funeral Home located at 1462 E. Quinlan Pkwy, Quinlan, TX 75474. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until service time for the funeral.
Interment to follow at the Sanger Cemetery located at 525 McReynolds Rd, Sanger, TX 75266
