Dorothy Jean Way, age 94, of Willis Point, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM Friday, September 3, 2021, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan. Burial will follow at Simmons Cemetery.
Dorothy Jean Way was born on January 25, 1927, in Greenville, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Earl Ussery and Lillie Marie Adkisson Ussery. She was raised in Cash, where her family owned a small grocery store and graduated from Greenville High School before moving to Dallas. She worked as a pharmacist assistance for Gibson Pharmacy and Eckerd Drugstore for 30 years until her retirement in the early 1990’s. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dallas and Wylie for 40 years. Dorothy was a proud OG of gaming and loved playing video games. She also enjoyed playing cards, dominos, and Skip-Bo. She enjoyed watching old reruns of I Love Lucy, Matlock, and Perry Mason. She loved working in her garden. She had a talented green thumb and loved crossbreeding roses to create her own blend of rose bushes. Dorothy also loved to sew, embroidery, crocheting and made clothing for her family. She enjoyed cooking for family gathering and was a fabulous baker. Her famous delicious homemade chocolate pie will be very missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas in 1976; mother, Lillie on December 10, 1987; son, Terry Way on May 16, 2007; sister, Doris Ussery Mullins on June 9, 1992; and brother, Billy Ussery in February 1993.
She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her children, Paula Smith and companion Emit Carrizales of Carrolton; Donna Way Wysocki and husband John Wysocki of Wills Point; son, Ritchie Vic and wife Susan of Seagoville; daughter-in-law, Chery Way of Wylie; sister-in-law, Catherine Ussery of William Hutchison; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren; best friends, Bill Alexander of Wylie, Wanda Tally of Sachse, and Wanda Simpson of McKinney
