Dewey Evans McClure, 82, of Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his residence. Memorial services celebrating Dewey’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Lone Oak Assembly of God with Pastor Sam Calk officiating.
Dewey was born on June 28, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the son of the late Larry Evans McClure and Lorene Blair McClure. He was raised and educated in Mangum, OK. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Dewey married Wanda Lou Conn on December 31, 1959 and they made their first home in Oklahoma City. His work as a carpenter sent them traveling throughout Texas and other states. In 2002 they settled in Quinlan, Texas where they have remained. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jesse David McClure and son-in-law Bill McWhorter. He enjoyed gardening where he grew vegetables and beautiful flowers. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife Wanda of Quinlan; sons Tony Steven McClure of Plano, Terry Evans McClure and wife Gina of Plano; daughters Vicki McWhorter of Seminole, FL, Pamela Ann Albertsen of Wylie, Shelba Jean Cox of Arlington; brother Larry McClure and wife Jonell of West Tawakoni; sister Rita Sharp of Longview; grandchildren Kristina, Michael, Gavin, Katlyn, Evan, Victoria, Shelby, Dawson, Beth, Austin, Cassie, David, Justin, Tim, Ryan, Cory; 10 great-grandchildren and his 20 stray cats.
