David Wheeler Obituary

David William Wheeler, age 78, of Royse City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

David William Wheeler was born in Fort Worth, Texas on Tuesday, March 5, 1946, to the late John Henry Wheeler and Katie Juanita Henry Wheeler. He was raised and attended school in Britain, Texas. David enlisted into the United States Navy on September 24, 1965, in Mansfield, Texas and honorably served his country during the Vietnam conflict. Upon his release from active duty, he was transferred to Long Beach Naval Station in California and served in the Naval Reserve. He married Miss Joyce Middlebrooks on December 2, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas. He worked in construction as a foreman and welding inspector. He loved listening to old country music and watching old westerns with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne. David enjoyed fishing and planting flowers and vegetables in his gardens. He enjoyed raising chickens but refused to eat them; instead, David would name his chickens and take them for rides on his lawnmower. More than anything, he loved his wife and family. He was proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those that loved him.

He is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 54 years, Joyce Wheeler of Royse City; son, Clint Wheeler and wife Ali of Joshua; daughters, Tami Wallace of Carrollton and Sandra Everett and husband Danny of Corinth; grandchildren, Bryce Hankins of Carolton; Emerson Sours of Corinth; Natali Baker of Cleburne; Katie Wheeler of Joshua; step grandchildren, Kai Everett and Donovan Everett both of Corinth; great grandchild, Blakelee Baker; brother, Jack Wheeler; sister, Sue Briggs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Wheeler and sister, Kathy Hokett.
