David Gayler Obituary

David Lloyd Gayler, 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Wills Point, Texas, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by love, with his devoted wife, Gloria Gayler, by his side.

Born August 20, 1959, in Randall County, Texas, David was a proud graduate of the Garland High School Class of 1978. He spent 47 years in the auto industry, dedicating his career to helping others as an auto parts specialist. He had a deep knowledge of his craft and a reputation for always going the extra mile.

David is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Gloria Gayler; his cherished bonus daughter, Krista Waller of Princeton, TX; his bonus son, Jeremy Waller of Princeton, TX; and grandsons Dalton and Waylon, also of Princeton. He is also survived by his uncle Gary McAtee and cousin Brittany, both of Corpus Christi, TX, along with a host of close friends who became like family over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dora Jean and Garland Dan Gayler of Wills Point, TX; his bonus daughter Amy Waller; and uncles Jimmy Brooks and Mike McAtee.

David found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing for the “big ones,” playing pool in the bar he proudly built at home, and spending time with his grandkids. He was also an avid Xbox gamer, known online to many as a fierce and friendly competitor. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.

David and Gloria were members of Lakeview Church in Quinlan, where they found spiritual strength and community.

His warmth, wit, and enduring love will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

David’s service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Lakeview Church located at 11020 FM 751 Quinlan, TX 75474 at 11:00 am. Please come casual, as David would have done.

The family appreciates all thoughts and prayers at this time.
