Clayton Miller Obituary

Clayton Merle Miller, 80, passed away on January 30, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Prospect Cemetery in Emory under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home.

Mr. Miller died on January 30, 2021. He was born on June 17, 1940, in Dallas, to Nellie Barbara Miller and Houston F. Miller. Clayton was raised in Dallas and joined the army in 1961, honorably discharged in July 1965. He became known as a gambling man then, as he would tell stories of leaving ship with pillowcases of dollar bills he had won, only to lose it on leave when they were docked somewhere.

In December 1967, he completed the Dallas Fire Academy and began his profession as a Dallas fireman. He continued that until his retirement in 1987, when he moved to Emory and the family came to call it home. He was the most giving person and had one of the best poker faces. His kind heart and keen sense of humor will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughters, Jackie and Carol; sons-in-law, Tommy Finn and Scott Rosser; granddaughter, Emily Clifton; niece, Shantel Deleon and husband David; special friends, DJ and Kathi Bruce; and many other loving family members and friends.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Miller; his mother and father; and two brothers, Wayne F. Miller and Buster Miller.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
