Clarence Layton

Clarence Jackson Layton, better known as Jack, was born on May 28, 1940, in McGee, Mississippi. He passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, in Alba, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, whose warm spirit and love for life will be profoundly missed.

Jack dedicated his life to his family and his work as a truck driver, spending many years with Trinity Industries. His career took him across the highways and byways and he took pride in the freedom and adventure that came with the open road.

Aa a man of many interests, Jack had a heart for storytelling, often telling family and friends tales from his life and adventures. He had an undeniable passion for reading and watching westerns, immersing himself in the rugged landscapes and characters that filled the stories. Jack loved watching his sports, baseball, basketball and especially the Dallas Cowboys, cheering on his team with enthusiasm that was contagious through the good and the bad. He enjoyed sharing laughter and excitement with those around him no matter where he was.

Family gatherings were the highlight of Jacks life, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones. Whether playing dominoes or trying his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, he brought an element of fun and laughter to every occasion. Jack enjoyed taking scenic drives during vacations, where he created lasting memories with his wife, Jean Layton, and their children.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Jean Layton, his daughter Jackie Crawford and son-in-law Allen Crawford, his son Jerry Don Layton and daughter-in-law Bebe Layton, his cherished grandchildren, Justin Crawford, Alyssa Sullivan, JD Layton Jr. and Colby Crawford. He is also survived by his sister Ruby Williams.

Jack life was a celebration filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. His warm spirit and kind heart will continue to inspire those he leaves behind, and he will always be remembered as a pillar of strength and joy in his family's life.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ora Layton, his brothers JH and LM Layton and sister Teen Barrett.

Jack was loved by everyone who knew him and he will be missed. We Love You Jack.
