Cheryl Lorine Caldwell-McKnight was born on September 11, 1964, to her loving parents, Zedark and JoAnn Caldwell, in Royse City, Texas. She was the cherished sister of Sandy, Teresa, and Sheila. The bond between the sisters was unbreakable; they loved each other fiercely, supported one another, and always knew they could count on each other.
Cheryl became a mother in 1981 to her beloved daughter, Krystal. Despite a challenging birth, Cheryl's determination and love for her daughter shone through. Krystal was her pride and joy, and when Krystal had her own daughters, Cheryl's heart grew even bigger. She adored her granddaughters and cherished every moment with them, always bragging about their accomplishments.
Though she was unable to have more children, Cheryl's heart was open and welcoming. When Gavin came into her life at the age of three, she embraced him and instantly became his mom. Cheryl believed that God brought Gavin into her life for a reason, and their bond was instant.
Family was everything to Cheryl. She was the peacekeeper, the one everyone turned to in times of need. Her heart was immense, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for her loved ones. Cheryl's compassion extended beyond her family; she dedicated her life to caring for others as a home health care nurse. Her patients adored her, and she treated them with the utmost dignity and respect.
Cheryl was vibrant and unique. She liked to stand out and she never met a stranger. She had a special bond with her dog, Bella, who was her constant companion, especially over the past year.
Cheryl was proud of her Native American heritage, which she inherited from her father's side. She enjoyed celebrating her Choctaw heritage and the Choctaw culture.
She was Elvis Presley’s biggest fan. She loved everything pink. Her sense of style was as vibrant as her personality.
Cheryl's life was filled with love, laughter, and service. She is now reunited with her sisters Teresa & Sheila, her nephew Nick, and parents in Heaven. I know she hated leaving her family behind, but I also know she is experiencing so much peace and joy. Though her absence leaves a void, her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. Cheryl was a beautiful soul, and her legacy of love and kindness will live on.
She is survived by her daughter, Krystal Phillips and husband Gerald; her son, Gavin; her granddaughters, Emily and Allison Phillips; her sister, Sandy Morris and husband James; her brother-in-law, Richie McDaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeke and Jo Ann Caldwell; her sister, Teresa Hass; her nephew, Nick Crenshaw; and her baby sister, Sheila McDaniel.
