Charles Mattocks Jr. Obituary

Charles Everett Mattocks, Jr., passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life defined by service, dedication, and deep love for his family. He was born on August 3, 1931, in Houston, Texas, to Charles Everett Mattocks, Sr. and Mattie Emma Turbeville Mattocks, both of whom preceded him in death.
Charles was raised in West University Place in Houston and graduated from Lamar High School before earning a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Houston.
In 1951, Charles proudly joined the United States Navy, serving until 1954. He was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, and served as a First Petty Officer and sonarman aboard a destroyer off the coast of Korea during active conflict. His time in the Navy was a source of great pride and a testament to his commitment to his country.
After returning from military service to complete his education, Charles met the love of his life, Marsha Hicks Mattocks. They were married in 1957 and shared a remarkable 69 years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary this past January.
Charles began his professional career with Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas, in 1958, where he worked with dedication and excellence for 39 years until his retirement.
He was a man with many hobbies- golf, tennis, bird hunting, skeet shooting, and bowling. He was a member of Canyon Creek Country Club and the Texans Gun and Skeet Club. He was also a proud alumnus of Sigma Alpha Epsilon National Fraternity and Kappa Delta Kappa.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Marsha Hicks Mattocks; his three daughters, Dee Anne Calo (Phil), Kerri Lynn Cox, and Marilee St. Louis (Gary); and his three grandchildren, Wesley Metter Barnes (Andrew), Dean Metter, and Skyler Cox. He is also survived by his brother, Roy Eugene Mattocks of Cabot, Arkansas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He especially looked forward to milestones he will now watch over from above- the upcoming birth of his first great-granddaughter in May (Wesley & Andrew) and the marriage of his granddaughter, Skyler, to Coby also in May.
Charles will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence, his warmth, and the joy he brought to those around him. He was fun, funny, and playful, known for his big hugs and for being the loudest one cheering on his kids/ grandkids from the stands at every game and event. A perfectionist with impeccable style, he was always well-dressed—rarely seen without his cowboy boots and deeply social.
