Carolyn Sue Porritt

Sue Smith Porritt died peacefully at her home with her husband and daughter Cathy at her side on September 18, 2020. She was born in Ashville, North Carolina in 1943 to the late Wilma Montgomery Smith and John O. Smith. Her formative years were spent in Lubbock and Dallas and she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas in 1961. She enrolled at John Brown University in the fall of that year where she met her husband David.

After their marriage in 1962 they adopted two daughters Carla and Cathy. She is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, a sister Sally Anderson, her daughters, two grandsons Anthony and Noah Berlin, and by two granddaughters Amanda Pennington, and Bethanie Allen, two great grand children Evryn and Aslan Pennington, and grandson-in-law Ruston Pennington.

The family settled in the greater Dallas area and have lived here since 1972.

Sue was a homemaker and an artist who did outstanding work in pastels and oil painting and made artistic quilts. She loved her family, and her friend's. She had many dear friend's, and was a trusted, loyal and faithful friend, to those in her circle. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and never wavered from her faith.
