Bill & Louise Thompson Obituary

Billy Ray Thomson, 82, of Scroggins, TX passed away peacefully on August 17, 2020.  Shortly after, he was reunited with his bride, Mary Louise Thompson, 83, who passed away on August 20, 2020.

Billy “Bill” Ray Thompson was born on February 10, 1938 to Raymond and Dorothy Thompson in Grapevine, Arkansas.  After college, Bill enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1957 and retired in 1998 as a Lieutenant Colonel.  On September 17, 1962 he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mary (Louise) Combs.  Bill was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed gospel music.  He sang with the Melody Boys Quartet from 1967-1970.  Bill spent his spare time finding projects around their beloved lake house in East Texas, dancing with Louise, collecting coins, hunting, and passing his wisdom down to his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mary “Louise” Thompson was born on December 26, 1936 to J. Harland and Zady Combs in England, Arkansas.  After high school, she attended business school and raised her three daughters.  Once the girls were grown, Louise embarked on a career in banking.  Over 30 years, she devotedly served her clients and ultimately retired as a Business Development Manager with Guaranty Bank.  Louise enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking for her loved ones, dancing with Bill, gardening, and loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald Thompson. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Betty Poppy and Helen Waldo.  Both were preceded in death by their grandson, Justin Johnson.

Bill and Louise are survived by their three daughters, Rhonda, and husband Dallas Baggett (Little Rock, AR), Lisa, and husband James Johnson (Caddo Mills, TX), and Nichole McBride (Princeton, TX).  They are survived by their grandchildren Dallas Baggett Jr., Jamie Brubaker, Cole Herron and Korri Martin and their great grandchildren Tinley Brubaker, Emery Martin, Jay Brubaker, Dyson Martin, and Kendall Brubaker.  Bill is also survived by his brother Glenn Thompson. Louise is survived by her sister Minnie Andrews, and her brother Jim Combs.

Bill and Louise would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on September 17, 2020.  The couple was reunited with each other and their Heavenly Father for a joyous celebration!  The two left behind a legacy that most could only dream of, and a strong testament to their values.  As unconditional love and strength was their way, so will it continue through their children and grandchildren. Although they will be missed greatly, they live on in the wonderful memories we have shared, and will be forever in our hearts.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
