Wanda Joy (Bybee) Snider

Wanda Joy Bybee Snider was born on October 30, 1934 and passed away on April 29, 2018. She was born in Jayton, Texas and is the daughter of the late Arthur Bybee and Lorene Cook Bybee. She was raised and educated in Phillips, Texas. Wanda was called the “Joy of her family” and her Grandmother gave her the name of Joy because she was such a joy to them at her birth. Wanda met Winford Snider and they were married on September 22, 1951. They made their home in Borger, Texas where they raised their family. Wanda worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum in the geology department. In 1981 they moved to San Marcos and then in 1998 they retired to the Lake Tawakoni area. Wanda was also preceded in death by her son Kevin Snider. Winford and Wanda were devoted members of First Baptist Rockwall. She enjoyed gardening and making beautiful flower arrangements. Wanda was a novice interior decorator and a very good cook and especially a baker. Her specialty was Cherry pie and it was the number one request by those who knew her. Shopping was among her favorite past times especially for clothes and ‘high heels.’ Spending time fishing, picnicking and traveling to warm sunny beaches with her husband was always special to her. Wanda loved her family dearly, her 6 grandchildren and their babies.

Wanda is loved and will be missed by her husband of 66 years Winford; son Steve Snider and wife Carolyn of Dallas; daughters Cheryl Burgess of Tyler, Shelly Hood and husband John of Dallas; brothers Arthur Bybee and wife Karla of Borger, Bob Bybee and wife Judy of Amarillo; grandchildren Dustin Burgess, Devin Burgess, Donovan Burgess, Heather Galliani, Heidi Gunnels and Elizabeth Snider; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating Wanda’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Bob Bybee officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Interment will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Westlawn Memorial Park in Borger, Texas.
