Rita was born on October 21, 1935 in Lone Oak. She is the daughter of the late George Dewey & Clemmie Van Cleave McDonald. As a child she moved all over Texas and picked her fair share of cotton. She left Lone Oak to proudly serve our Country as a member of the United States Navy for 4 years. Rita met Charles “Chuck” Platt in Denver, Colorado and they were married in August of 1968 before moving back to Texas. They settled in the Dallas area where she owned and operated Hair Salons for over 20 years before retiring to East Tawakoni. Chuck also preceded her in death in January 2007 as well as her brothers George, Edward, Claude, Leon, Gene, Abe and sister Lois. Rita enjoyed working in her yard and riding her mower. She loved to travel and had been to many interesting places. She was a wonderful sister and aunt who always took care of her family and ‘kept them all in line.’
She is loved and will be missed by her twin brother Joe McDonald and his wife Laura, of East Tawakoni; Jimmy McDonald and his wife Elsie of Mesquite; and numerous nieces and nephews.
