Karen Marie Hickey, 75, of Point went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Plano. Memorial services celebrating Karen’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Point with Pastor Zachary Honzell officiating.
Karen was born on October 3, 1942 in Gelnhausen, Germany. She is the daughter of the late Heinrich Weingartner and Marie Zellman Weingartner. Her birth name in German was Karin Edeltraud Erna Marie Weingartner. She was born during WWII and was raised on a farm. Karen met W.H. Hickey who was serving in Germany with the United States Army and they were married in July 1960. They moved to the U.S. in 1969 and they settled in Michigan before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a great Homemaker and loved taking care of her family especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. In 2007 she moved to Texas where she has remained. Karen was also preceded in death by her sister Lina Gardiner. She was active in her church and was involved with providing meal and preparing grocery bags for the church food bank and preparing and serving meals for the youth group. She helped out at church anyway she was able.
She is loved and will be missed by her sons Donald Hickey and wife Beverley of Point, Mike Hickey and wife Allison of Conroe; brother Gunther Weingartner of Germany; sisters Ursula Canter of Florida, Suse Shroyer of California; brother-in-law Scott Gardiner of Richardson; grandchildren Jessica, Scott, Angela, Amanda and Benjamin; numerous great-grandchildren and dear friend Lynn Wallace.
