Joy was born on  August 7, 1932 in Hopkins County.  She is the daughter of the late Henry and Easter Ely Bryant.  She was raised and educated in Van Sickle.  Joy  married Glen Horrocks in November of 1947 and they made their home in Rains County.  She enjoyed farm life while living on the 3-J Ranch in Ginger, Texas for about 15 years where her husband Glen was employed, later they owned a dairy farm until his passing in 2005.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers Earl Bryant, Bud Bryant and sisters Katherine Waldrop and Patricia Bennett.  She worked for the United States Postal Service as a clerk for 20 years before her retirement.  She was a member of Emory Baptist where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a foster parent to many and belonged to the Art league.  She enjoyed square dancing and was a 4-H leader in the county.  She enjoyed camping and had a lake house built for all her family and friends to come together as one.  Joy was a very artistic lady who painted and did crafts, loved music and played the guitar.  She also was a wonderful seamstress and a creative cook with enough food for everyone plus any extras who came along.
