Jay Scott Smith, 68, of Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 30, 2019 in Wills Point, TX. Memorial services celebrating Scott’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Calk and Brother Jerry Scott officiating.
Scotty was born on September 15, 1951 in Kaufman Texas and graduated from Kaufman High School. He grew up in Kaufman and Garland, and lived most of his life in Terrell and recently in Quinlan. Scotty served in the U.S. Army as a combat field medic in the Vietnam war. After serving his country, he continued to serve for many years as a Police Officer in several East Texas cities. Scott was also a volunteer instructor at the Terrell Police Academy Advanced course. His hobbies included gun smithing, IDPA competition gun shoots, riding motorcycles, performing as lead singer in a band at local bars and get togethers with friends and family, as well as, singing in his church.
Scotty is loved and will be missed by his Goddaughter, Erica Mabry of Tyler, close friend Debbie Runyon of Wills Point, and numerous close friends all over the East Texas area.
