Helen Ruth Childres, 93, of Lone Oak went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services celebrating Helen’s life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Lone Oak First Baptist Church with interment following at Hooker Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Bill Moore, Lane Garner, Tim Wilson, Jeff Seiber, Mickey Wilson and Charlie Brookins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Hargis, David Hanson and Stevie Nichol.

Helen was born on February 20, 1924 in Lone Oak, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Major Earl Childres and Lela Clewis Childres. She was raised and educated in Emory. Helen was also preceded in death by her daughter Nita Lee and her 11 siblings. She worked for 23 years at Dallas City Packing. She was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church for the last 11 years. In addition to spending time with her family she loved cooking and fishing. She was especially proud of the 89 pound catfish she caught.

She will be loved and missed by her sons Charles Dickens and wife Artie of Lone Oak, Ronnie Dickens and wife Sheila of Lone Oak; grandchildren Tia Nolan, Ronald Barnes and wife Christy, Tara Lemieux, Rhonda Hammond and husband Dan, Jena Gann, Tony Dickens and wife Jennifer; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
