Dr. Elliott Snyder Obituary

Dr. Elliott Harvey Snyder, age 70, went to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence in Poetry, Texas on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.  A celebration of Elliott’s life will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

 

Pastor Drake Torp-Pederson, PH. D. of Terrell Bible Church will be officiating.

 

Elliott was born February 25, 1948 in Wilmington, Delaware.  He is the son of the late Dr. Morris Snyder and Dr. Eileen Fishman Snyder.  After graduating from Brandywine High School in 1965, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1969.  In 1973, He graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.  By the late 1970’s, he was on staff teaching Psychiatry at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.  In the 1980’s, he went into Private Practice specializing in Geriatric Psychiatry in North Dallas.  Leaving Private Practice in the 1990’s, he worked for Dallas County Mental Health Department until his retirement.  After he retired, he met and married Marilyn Smith and they have since made their home in the Poetry Community.

 

Elliott loved keeping up with current events and had extensive involvement with Politics.  He was an avid reader, writer and researcher.  He also taught Sunday School and was an active member of Terrell Bible Church.  He also enjoyed extensive traveling.

 

He is loved and will be missed by his wife Marilyn.  He is also survived by two brothers, Stuart Snyder (wife Shawn) of Hockessin, DE, Jeffrey Snyder of Strasburg, PA, sister, Marla Snyder Unsworth (husband Skip) of Garland, TX, and nephew Ryan Snyder of Wilmington, DE.
