Alfred Ernest Gilpin, 83, of Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in Plano. Memorial services celebrating Alfred’s life will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Quest Church in Royse City with Phil Dacey officiating.
Alfred was born on February 3, 1936 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He is the son of the late Ernest and Ruth Hoskins Gilpin. He was raised and educated in Jefferson City. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. where he was a Mortar Specialist and served in the Viet Nam conflict. He earned the rank of Staff Sargent before his retirement in 1973 after over 20 years of service. Alfred married the former Miss Deborah Sue Wayne on December 30, 1993 and they made their home in the Quinlan and West Tawakoni communities. In the civilian world he worked and retired from the sheet metal and security guard businesses. Alfred was also preceded in death by his sisters Eula M. Gilpin, Beulah Pearl Cundiff, Opal Marie Hayes, Goldie Annette Gilpin, Ida Rose Gilpin, brothers Junior Clark Gilpin, Timothy Gilpin and great-grandson Tyson Myers. During his idle hours he enjoyed wood working and made many things for many people. His whole world was his grandkids and especially the babies.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife Deborah Gilpin; sisters Dorothy Belt, Hazel Schmutzler; brothers Stan Gilpin, Bill Gilpin; children Mellissia Allen, Wade Gilpin, Vicki Keifer, Joe Gilpin, Mary Taylor, Noah Grimm and Pearl Taylor; grandchildren Mellissia Myers, Teresa Burns, Christy Hardy, Joseph Gilpin, Kimberly Gilpin Courtney Gilpin, Sarah Keifer, Justin Gilpin, Jared Gilpin, Hunter Johnston, Kristina Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, Cody Taylor and Aleah Taylor; great-grandchildren Rachel & Jordan Burns, Alexa, Jacob & Emily Cazares, Dakota, Matthew, Bentley and Quentin Gilpin, Noah Hardy and Levi Myers.
