Gene Lennox Obituary

Gene Lennox Jr., age 65, of Wills Point, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.

Gene Lennox Jr. was born on Friday, October 17, 1958, in Mesquite to the late Mr. Harold Gene Lennox Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hill Lennox. He was raised in Dallas and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1976. After graduation, Gene enlisted into the United States Navy and loyally served his country as an Aviation Machinist's Mate and a Turboshaft Jet Engine Mechanic. During his extensive military career, Gene was awarded numerous medals including the Navy Achievement Medal for his selfless devotion to duty and the Navy Corps Commendation Medal for his outstanding leadership and innovative skills. He was also awarded Shore Sailor of the Year in 1994. Gene was transferred from active duty to Fleet Reserve Navy on December 31, 1998, after 21 faithful years of service. He married the love of his life, Miss Carla Johanna Butcher on May 11, 1979, at the old Court House in Dallas, Texas. He was an aviation technician for Raytheon in Greenville from 1999-2005. He also worked at Wills Point Chevrolet before his retirement in 2014. Gene had an incredible talent and love for motors. He enjoyed working on cars, motorcycles, and modifying engines. He also had a passion for Nascar and modified racing. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys and college football fan; rooting for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Gene was an incredible father and loved his girls with all his heart. He was a great dad that always had time for school field days, cooking for Girl Scout trips, attending softball games, and playing Santa. Unfortunately, he was also the King of repeating bad dad jokes, to the embarrassment of his girls.

He is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his devoted wife of 45 years, Carla Lennox of Wills Point; daughters, Brooke Genienne Lennox and boyfriend Ian of Fate and Brittany Joe Vaughan and husband Isaac of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Vivian Kathryn Vaughan of Fort Worth; 5 brothers, Billy Dale Johnson and wife Debbie of Rock Port; Claude Ray Johnson of Quinlan; Darrell Gilbreath of Oregon and David Lennox of Mount Pleasant; his dad, Ellis Johnson of Quinlan; numerous nieces and nephews; dear friends, Joe Deleon of San Antonio, Brian Hart of Oklahoma, and Bob Martin of Lone Oak; his trusted caregivers, Shania Ramsey of Van and Debbie Connelly of Wills Point; and his K9 Kids, Hound Dog, Monk the Punk, Stevie Nicks, and Mac Daddy.

"I'll lie to my friends, and you lie to your friends; but let's not lie to each other." - Gene Lennox (bad dad joke         again)
