Wanda Loretta White Blankenship, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Lone Oak. The family is planning a memorial service celebrating Wanda’s life at a later date.
Wanda was born on June 7, 1938 in Farmersville, Texas. She was born at home and was the only child of Voyne and Alvina Owens White. She was raised and educated in Merit. Wanda married Elice Blankenship on March 23, 1956 in Durant, Oklahoma and although they moved often for his job they spent the most time in Quinlan, Texas. She worked for Micropak in Garland and she retired in 1994. After retirement they moved to Arkansas where they have remained. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, sons James Wise Blankenship, Michael Vaughn Blankenship and grandson David Gaskey. She was a loving mother to her six children. She enjoyed playing basketball, working crossword puzzles, writing poetry, velvet painting and country music especially Dolly Parton. She had a fondness for watching Cardinals and Blue Jays.
She is loved and will be missed by her husband of 61 years Elice; sons David Allen Blankenship of Arkansas, Jeffery Elice Blankenship; daughter Tressia Crowder of Lone Oak, Paula Jean Blankenship of Arkansas; 11 grandchildren Leah, Justin, Jason, Mike, Michelle, Little Michael, Bailey, Bettina, Shannon, Wanda Jean, Bobbie; 9 great-grandchildren and her loving puppy “Salsa”.
