Thomas Vande Lune Obituary

Thomas Lee Vande Lune, 84, of West Tawakoni, went to be with Jesus, January 22, 2018, in Greenville, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, February 3, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Quinlan with Eric Rothe officiating.

 

He was born December 30, 1933, to Mr. &  Mrs. Garret Vande Lune in Oksaloosa, Iowa.  After graduating High school he enlisted in the Navy, June 1952, where he serviced his country then settle in San Francisco, California where he met and married Jean Louise Burkhart on May 26, 1959. He retired from his position as Vice President of Sosbee Company, a restaurant chain in Dallas, Texas to pursue a restaurant venture in Jackson Hole Wyoming.  Upon their return to Texas a couple of years later, they settled in West Tawakoni, Texas in 1989.

 

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Quinlan.  He loved his friends and was very blessed to have his community and church family. He loved volunteering with the men’s ministry, fishing and playing golf with his family and friends.

 

He was predeceased in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and his wife Jean Vande Lune.  He is survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, and numerous nieces and nephews,  and two daughters, Linda Waugh and Steve;  and Cathy Yates; grandchildren Tommy Waugh and wife, Jess, Lisa Waugh and husband, Jonathan, Lance Warneke and wife, Paige, and Lynsey Yates; great-grandchildren, Witten,  Manning,  and Marley. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church
