Ricky Dale Brown, Sr.

November 4, 1953 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Ricky Dale Brown, Sr. of Quinlan went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services celebrating Ricky’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Ingram Funeral Home with Judge Hershey Barnett officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Ricky was born November 4, 1953 in Dallas, Texas to Johnny Brown and Lucille Brown.  He attended school in Dallas, graduating from H. Grady Spruce High School. After graduation, Ricky worked as an auto and diesel mechanic.  In 1971, he married the former Nina Sport and they were blessed with two loving children, Linda Yeager and Ricky Brown, Jr.  Ricky and his family moved to Quinlan in 1987 where he managed Pop’s Honey Fried Chicken for six years.  In 1996, he went to work for Underground Utilities, retiring in 2011 as a foreman.  Throughout his lifetime, he was proud to be called Papa, “the rock”, hero, and coach.  He recently bowled in the USBC National Championship alongside his son, Ricky Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada.  His best accomplishment with bowling was 11 in a row, which gave him a score of 290.  Ricky enjoyed bowling, coaching sports, and playing the slots.  Spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids wash his number one priority.  He loved watching them play ball.  He was diagnosed with lymphoma a year ago and fought a good fight to the end.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Charles Brown and Gary Brown.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife Nina of Quinlan; daughter Linda Yeager and husband Casey of West Tawakoni, Texas; son Ricky Brown, Jr. and wife Sherry of Honea Path, South Carolina; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers Joe Brown and wife Jean of Arlington, Texas; J. D. Brown and wife Diane of Carrollton, Texas; sisters Betty Janes of Mabank, Texas, Marion Florow of Dallas, Texas; sisters-in-law Tammy Page and Peggy Sport both of Quinlan; and brother-in-law Charles Sport and wife Charlotte of Quinlan; and numerous other family and friends.
