Raymond Earl Wright

June 7, 1959 ~ June 20, 2016 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Raymond Earl Wright, 57, of Raymondville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 20, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services celebrating Raymond’s life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan, Texas. Interment will be held at 5:00 P.M. at Campground Cemetery in Poetry. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until service time.

Raymond was born on June 7, 1959 in Petaluma, California. He is the son of Armelda Jeanne Sadler Wright and the late Thomas Edward Wright. Born into a military family, he lived in many places growing up including England, California and Massachusetts. As a young man, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Raymond married Tracie Pope on February 14, 1980, and they lived many years in both Fort Worth and Raymondville, Texas.

Raymond loved children, and he and his wife raised their foster son, Michael, from 1983 until 1988, when he turned 18. In 1989 their daughter, Sarah, the joy of Raymond's life, was born. As a dedicated family man, he also helped raise his nieces and nephews; Christopher Pope, Elizabeth Speed and Sherina Speed.

Raymond worked as a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for over 20 years. His hobbies included collecting Hot Wheels cars and model trains. In addition, he enjoyed cooking, science fiction, and video games, especially World of Warcraft. Raymond had a lifelong love for animals from fish, llamas, dogs and cats. At one point he even owned a pet store. However, his biggest passion was enjoying and spending time with his family. He often amused people with his long, unbelievable stories and meaningless trivia, which usually surprised people by being true.

Raymond was preceded in death by his grandparents William Raymond Wright (1956), Maggie Ozella Wright (1985), Robert Earl Sadler (1967) and Della B Sadler (1979), and his father Thomas Edward Wright (2012).

He is loved and will be missed by many surviving members of his family including: his wife, Tracie Wright of Raymondville; daughter, Sarah Mae Wright of Houston; mother, Armelda Jeanne Wright of Mineral Wells; foster son, Michael Rattray of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters, Dusty Glover of Mineral Wells, Deletta Orange of Fort Worth and Deanca Ingram of Poetry along with many nieces and nephews. May he rest in peace.
