October 2, 1937 ~ February 4, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

R. A. Duncan 79 of the Lake Tawakoni community went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his residence.  Funeral services with Naval Honors will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Ingram Funeral Home with Pastor Cory Williams officiating; interment will follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.  Visitation will be held from 5-7 P. M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers:  Bubba Randell, Bret Randell, R. L. Langley, Nick Cress, Johnny Mitchell, and Jesse Ethridge.

R. A. was born October 2, 1937 in Canton, Texas.  He is the son of the late Arvil Gray Duncan and Myrtle Wright Duncan.  He was raised and educated in Cross Roads and Athens, Texas.  On October 18, 1955, he joined the United States Navy where he served on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard and the USS Lexington with the 7th Fleet off Formosa.  Upon his discharge, he lived in Ohio where he met Hazel Ann Wager and they married in Cleveland on June 27, 1959.  Later they returned to Texas and made their home in Oak Cliff, then later moving to Forney where he worked for Braniff Airlines.  In 1979, they moved to Terrell.  Before his retirement, he worked as a quality assurance engineer for 13 years at Raytheon in Greenville.  Hazel preceded him in death on December 18, 1996.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Harold Andrew Duncan on October 17, 1984.  Later he married Judy Langley on March 20, 1998 and they made their home in the Lake Tawakoni community.  He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Terrell.  R. A. enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars.  In his youth he loved to drag race.  He was an avid NASCAR and Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife Judy; son Raymond Duncan of Wills Point; step-daughters Melissa Randell of Quitman and Beverly Laney of Ft. Worth; grandchildren Bret and wife Patty, Megan and husband Jesse, Tabbitha, Ashley and Kylie; great-grand-children Jaxen, Jaygan, Marshal, Lana, and Harley.
