Gilbert Dan Smith, 83, of Point went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his residence. Memorial service celebrating Gilbert’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan with Judge Hershey Barnett officiating.

Gilbert was born on August 12, 1934 in Lone Oak, Texas. He is the son of the late Herbert and Clara Dixon Smith. He was raised and educated in Lone Oak. He met the former Miss A. Katherine Hooten and they were married on December 24, 1952. They made their home in Leonard where they raised their family. Gilbert worked for the Texas New Mexico Power Company for 43 years before his retirement in 1989. After retirement they moved to East Tawakoni where they he enjoyed farm work and bailing hay. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and one sister. He loved his family and spending time with his kids and grandkids; especially attending his grandkid’s sporting events.

He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 65 years; sons Jeffrey Lee Smith of Commerce, David K. Smith of McKinney; daughters Kim Salerno and husband Michael of Double Oak, Dianna Wager and husband David of Corinth; 7 grandchildren Lawrence, Michael Jr., Stephen, Jordan, Thornton, Anna, Orie and 1 great-grandson Logan.
