Alton Lee York

June 14, 1928 ~ February 20, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Alton Lee York, 88, of East Tawakoni went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 20, 2017 at his home. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Eddie May York of 61 years at Hart Cemetery in Cash on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 P.M.

He is loved and will be missed by his son Randal Lee York of East Tawakoni; daughters Sharon Younger and husband Stanley of West Tawakoni, Cynthia York Lynch and husband Michael of West Tawakoni; grandchildren Chief Warrant Officer Angela Younger-Embree and husband Patrick, Keith York, Krisiti Bisby and husband Gary, Jon Ratcliff, Charlie Hopkins; Great-Grandchildren Drake Thompson, Nikki Thompson, Skyler Younger-Embree, Natsu Younger-Embree, Kenneth Busby, Joseph Busby, Katelynn Busby; Great-Great-Grandson Luke Ott; and numerous other relatives, friends and co-workers.

Alton was born June 14, 1928 in Frost, Texas. He was the last son of 10 children and was afforded a 5th grade education due to his being needed on the farm. Alton joined the United States Army in 1946 and proudly served his country until 1952. Upon his return home he met Eddie May Swann and they were married on January 1, 1954 and they made their home in the Dallas area.

Alton truly enjoyed his work and had many businesses over his lifetime. His primary employment was as a sheet rocker. He was an independent sheet rocker and ran his own company and crew for 40 years. During this time Alton had many other businesses. He owned a restaurant in Ovilla, an auto repair shop, an auto paint and Body shop, numerous used car lots in Dallas and in 1987 he opened his final business Lone Star Marina in East Tawakoni. He worked at the marina thru his final days. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Michelle Younger Thompson.

Alton was always active with and a member of the Veterans organizations. He was a life member of American Legion Post 511 in Dallas and a past commander of the post and served 10 years as 2nd commander entertainment chairman. Alton had a great passion for classic cars, music and dance.
